Valentina Huckova

: Cultural & Tourism Exchange Exhibition

between Chungnam Cultural and Tourism Foundation and the Embassy of the Slovak Republic in Korea

This exhibition is held to celebrate the declaration of a cultural and tourism exchange agreement between the Chungnam Culture and Tourism Foundation and the Embassy of the Slovak Republic in Korea. Chungcheongnam-do in the Republic of Korea and the Slovak Republic have each built rich cultural identities shaped by their unique histories, environments, and traditions. This exhibition offers a meaningful opportunity to deepen cultural and tourism exchange and cooperation between the two regions.

Under the theme of <RESONANCE>, this exhibition presents how artists from Chungcheongnam-do and the Slovak Republic engage in artistic dialogue through the shared language of contemporary art, reflecting their distinct cultures, histories, and natural environments. Through various forms including installations, media art, and paintings, the exhibition connects the sensibilities of different times and places, presenting an evolving sensory dialogue between Chungcheongnam-do and Slovakia.

In his work <TAIWAN ONLY / TAINAN>, Peter Baran from the Slovak Republic explores the role of concrete in preserving and replacing urban memory by engraving Taiwanese wood patterns into its surface. Valentina Huckova presents a video work inspired by the Bangudae Petroglyphs of Ulsan, Korea, an imagined journey where sea and sky merge into one, drifting slowly through a weightless space.

Eight artists from Chungcheongnam-do (Kim Ga-eul, Kim Roi, Kim Min-hyung, Na Kwang-ho, Lee Yeon-sook, Lee Ji-yeon, Lee Hwa-young, and Jang Ip-kyu) explore themes of nature, urban life, memory, personal experience, and the traces of everyday life through video, painting, and installation. Their works reflect a range of contemporary perspectives rooted in the local context.

This exhibition, <RESONANCE>, aspires to become a resonance space, a site where the distinct worlds of the Slovak Republic and Chungcheongnam-do meet and interact, sharing sensory vibrations that transcend time and place. We invite you to experience how different environments can create subtle “resonances of the senses.”
