CN 갤러리는 4월 1일부터 4월 12일까지 김대성 작가의 개인전 《풍경은 남고, 기회는 지나고, 잠상은 쌓인다》를 개최한다.
본 전시는 사진을 단순한 기록의 결과를 넘어, 지나간 시간과 놓쳐버린 가능성, 그리고 기억 속에 축적되는 잠상의 매체로 바라본다. 파리의 겨울 풍경을 담은 풍경사진, 프레임 밖의 가능성을 사유하는 기회사진,
중첩된 시선과 잔상을 다루는 잠상의 집합은 각기 다른 방식으로 사진의 본질을 질문한다. 전시는 ‘남는 것, 지나가는 것, 쌓이는 것’의 관계를 따라가며, 사진이 세계를 보여주는 동시에 보이지 않는 것까지 암시하는 매체임을 드러내고자 한다.
CN Gallery presents Daeseong Kim’s solo exhibition, Landscapes Remain, Chances Pass, Latent Images Accumulate, on view from April 1 to April 12.
This exhibition approaches photography not merely as a result of documentation, but as a medium that reflects the passage of time, missed possibilities, and afterimages accumulated in memory. Landscape photographs capturing winter scenes in Paris, “opportunity photographs” that contemplate possibilities beyond the frame, and a constellation of afterimages that explores layered gazes and residual impressions each question the nature of photography in different ways.
Tracing the relationship between what remains, what passes, and what accumulates, the exhibition seeks to reveal photography as a medium that not only represents the visible world but also suggests what lies beyond it.
About the exhibition
사진은 언제나 무언가를 남긴다.
그러나 그 흔적은 단지 눈앞의 장면만이 아니다. 어떤 이미지는 풍경으로 머물고, 어떤 순간은 선택되지 못한 채 스쳐 지나가며, 어떤 장면은 사라진 뒤에도 마음속에 잠상처럼 겹쳐 남는다.
이 전시는 사진을 단순한 기록의 결과가 아니라, 남는 것과 지나가는 것, 그리고 쌓이는 것의 관계 속에서 바라본다.
파리의 겨울 풍경을 담은 풍경사진은 정지된 장면 안에 머무는 시간과 감정을 보여준다. 기회사진은 사진가가 한 장면을 선택하는 동시에 놓쳐버리는 또 다른 가능성을 드러내며, 사진의 프레임 밖을 상상하게 한다. 잠상의 집합은 사라진 장면 이후에도 내면에 축적되는 기억과 감각의 층위를 중첩된 이미지로 펼쳐 보인다.
세 작업은 서로 다른 형식을 갖고 있지만, 결국 하나의 질문으로 이어진다.
사진은 무엇을 보여주며, 무엇을 놓치고, 무엇을 끝내 남기는가.
이 전시는 사진을 하나의 완결된 이미지로 보기보다, 시간과 시선, 기억과 감각이 계속해서 교차하는 과정으로 바라보려는 시도이다. 관람자는 각기 다른 사진적 장면들을 따라가며, 이미지가 눈앞에 머무는 순간뿐 아니라 사라진 이후에도 지속되는 흔적의 방식을 함께 마주하게 된다.
A photograph always leaves something behind.
But what remains is not only the visible scene before our eyes. Some images stay as landscapes, some moments pass by unchosen, and some scenes linger long after they disappear, layered in the mind like latent images. This exhibition approaches photography not simply as a finished record, but as a relation between what remains, what passes, and what accumulates.
The Landscape Photographs, depicting winter scenes in Paris, reveal the time and emotion held within still images. La Photo d’opportunité(Opportunity Photograph) draw attention to the other possibilities that are inevitably lost the moment a photographer chooses one scene, inviting us to imagine what lies beyond the frame. Collection of Latent Images unfolds the layers of memory and sensation that continue to gather inwardly even after the visible scene has vanished.
Although these three bodies of work take different forms, they ultimately converge into a single question: What does photography show, what does it miss, and what does it leave behind?
Rather than presenting photography as a complete and fixed image, this exhibition considers it as an ongoing process in which time, gaze, memory, and sensation intersect. As viewers move through the works, they encounter not only the moment an image appears before them, but also the traces that continue to persist after it is gone.
